There are just so many advantages to your health after bariatric surgery, but there are also some rather nasty side effects to rapid weight loss, including hair loss and loose skin.
One of the problems many of us also experience after surgery is, feeling very cold! And now that December is upon us, we will be wrapping up warm.
So why do we feel more cold after weight loss?
We have less insulation! (don’t mean to state the obvious)
Our blood pressure can lower as a result of the changes to our eating habits
Our metabolism slows down as we are eating less calories (it slows to save energy)
Iron deficiencies can also leave you feeling cold.
So what steps can we take in order to feel more comfortable in the winter?
Layering – several layers are better than just one big woolly jumper
Exercise more and build up those muscles – boosting your metabolism
Ensure that your bloods are checked for any deficiencies
Don’t forget your multi vitamins!
Since my Gastric Bypass, my cold hands have caused me considerable pain and I dread the temperature dropping below 10 degrees! However I recently came across this great website! https://www.turtle-doves.co.uk/
Fantastically recycled cashmere gloves and wrist warmers that are proving to keep my hands warm and I think that they also look great.
My Turtle Doves have been a life saver and I wear them every day. So if you know someone who is feeling the cold this Christmas – they are a great stylish and practical gift! (Turtle Doves also make scarves, hats and jumpers too!). Merry Christmas!
