I thought, as the nights are shorter and the air is colder, I would do 2 winter warm treats that would be perfect for a dessert.
Baked and Poached Pears a simple old-fashioned winter warmer, reminding me of childhood. Even with my gastric bypass I’ve been able to have a small portion of these low fat desserts.
BAKED PEAR (around 248 calories per a serving)
2 Pears
½ cup of dried fruit (I used sultanas, currants, raisin, cranberry’s)
½ lemon zest and juice
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Tablespoon of maple syrup
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves (just to make it taste like Christmas)
½ tea spoon of ginger
Cut the pears in ½ keep the skins on and par boil for 5 mins, while the pears are boiling mix all the fruit, spice, juice, zest, and syrup together.
Place the pears on a baking tray and cover the pears with the fruit mix.
Bake in the oven for 15 mins till pears are soft
Serve with yogurt and a pinch of cinnamon,

CITRUS POACHED PEARS
1 Lemon
1 Orange
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
Pinch of ground clove
100g Sugar
2 Pears
400mls water
Peal the pears
Place in a pan the zest and juice of the lemon and orange, add the spice & water bring to the boil,
Make sure sugar is dissolved.
Add the pears to the syrup simmer gently for 15 mins until pears are soft
Keep putting the syrup over the pears while cooking
Leave to cool and serve with yogurt and poor the remaining syrup over the pears
