Love is a great pleasure of something - food, life, people, family, friends and places.
Food is purely a sensory pleasure on your tongue. When we eat pleasurable food our brains release dopamine in anticipation of eating good food.
Dopamine is known as the happy hormone.
As February is the month of love, and we thought we would give you a couple of high protein ideas for valentine's night.
Light the candles, set the table for 2 and have some soft music in the background as “Love Is in the Air”
Scallops Piquant (Protein 20- 25g)
(An easy yet elegant way to prepare scallops in a creamy consistency)
Olive oil spray
1 pound of scallops about 12 with tough side muscle removed
½ cup minced shallots
½ cup white wine
½ cup water
¼ cup Dijon mustard
Steam veg of your choice
Serve 3 cooked scallops with sauce
Heat cooking spray in a large skillet until hot, sauté scallops for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden and just remove and keep warm.
Re-spray the skillet and cook shallots over medium heat stirring for 1 minutes until soft.
Add wine and boil for 1 minute (scraping up any brown bits) Stir in water and mustard, reduced heat and simmer for 7-8 minutes until liquid is reduced to about ¾ cup
Serve with steamed veg and enjoy.
Kiwi and coconut parfait (163cal and 7g Protein)
450g coconut yogurt
5 kiwis peeled and diced
1/2 lime zested
Sprigs of mint
20g pomegranate seeds
1tbsp clear honey
In a blender, puree half of the diced kiwi.
Fold with the lime juice, into the yoghurt
Layer the yogurt in a glass.
Add the diced kiwi and repeat.
Sprinkling a little mint on the top of last kiwi layer.
Finish off with pomegranate seeds and a drizzle of honey.
