Every day, I get asked, so how much do you eat, now you are 10 years post op? So I thought I would give you an update.
We are all different and shouldn’t compare, but here is a general overview of what I eat on a daily basis:
Breakfast
Please do not skip this, as if you leave your new small pouch empty for long periods of time, you are more likely to experience dumping syndrome. I normally start the day with a boiled egg or a slice of toast with marmite. I never want breakfast, but I know it’s essential.
Lunch
When I am at work, I always have 4 Ryvita Crackerbreads with low fat Philadelphia cheese, wafer thin ham and ½ a slice of low fat cheese on top. Yes, I am a creature of habit! At the weekends, I may have a cheese and ham toasted sandwich (always with low fat cheese) . However my new favourite is toasted sourdough with half an avocado and a poached egg. Even more delicious with a sprinkle of chilli flakes. Yum!
Dinner
Absolutely love stir fry with duck or chicken and I always have a roast dinner on a Sunday. I am also partial to steak and chips. As you can see below, completely clean plate.
Yes – I do eat out and have takeaways. Life does go on.
The only real difference is, a pizza or a Chicken Madras will last me 2 meals. So I save money too.
Snacks? I have never been a grazer, but do occasionally enjoy a bag of crisps or a Border biscuit. I neither desire nor miss desserts after dinner, ice cream on the beach or birthday cakes. Here is my Birthday cake made by the Team!
So how am I doing a decade later?
6 kgs heavier than I was at my lightest. Courtesy of the lockdown in 2020!
Fitter at 57 years old than I was at 27 years old!
I am able to fasten laces, paint my toe nails and wear my top tucked into my jeans!
Only medications I now take are vitamins!
Finally managed to get into a wet-suit (hard work mind you)!
Another NSV!
